Deformations / Loss of Limbs

Incurable, dart frogs cannot regrow missing body parts.
Preventable in some cases as infection can be a cause.

DESCRIPTION:
Loss of limbs or other body parts. This includes toes, ankles, legs, arms, eyes, etc.

CAUSE:
There is a wide range of possible causes: genetic mishaps, tadpole predation, damage from infection, entanglement, accidental damage such as getting stuck in a terrarium door, etc.

TREATMENT:
There is no treatment for loss of limbs or other body parts as the frog cannot regrow body parts.

If there is active infection causing the damage, this will need to be addressed or risk losing the frog completely. See Skin Rubs / Skin Infection for more information.
